The southern waters of Zakynthos as the day begins to cool. The turtles are gathering. The caves glow differently in the evening light.

The south of Zakynthos has a particular quality in the late afternoon that the morning simply cannot match. The heat lifts. The light deepens. And in the protected bay of Marathonisi, something remarkable begins to happen beneath the surface.

The Luna leaves the port of Zakynthos at 16:00. Six hours on the water, returning at 22:00, with the National Marine Park at its most alive and most atmospheric.

Your transfer collects you from your accommodation and brings you to the port. From the moment you step aboard, the evening belongs to your group — up to twelve of you, a skipper who knows exactly when and where the turtles are most active, and a steward whose only concern is that your glass is never empty and your fruit is always cold.

The two destinations are fixed. Everything else — the order, the pace, the stops along the way — belongs to your skipper and the conditions of the evening.

At Marathonisi the engine drops to a murmur and the boat drifts into the protected bay. As the sun begins to set, the fading light signals the Caretta caretta turtles to move towards the shore to nest. The population near the shoreline is at its highest in these evening hours — the bay comes alive in a way the morning simply cannot replicate. Your skipper knows exactly where to be. Stay quiet, stay still, and watch.

At the Keri Caves the evening light does something to the water that is worth seeing. The green that the caves are known for deepens as the afternoon turns, and the rock takes on a warmth it doesn’t have in the morning. You drift inside by boat. There are swim stops here — the water is still warm from the day, and there is no rush to leave it.

At 22:00 the Luna returns to port. Your transfer takes you home.

M/Y Luna — The Flagship of the Ionian

The Azimut Atlantis 50 is a different proposition entirely. Designed by Carlo Galeazzi, it is a yacht that looks different from the moment you see it — the arrowhead profile, the glass-dominated hardtop, the continuous flow from helm station to swim platform that makes the entire deck feel like one open, connected space. Step aboard and the first thing you notice is the light. The hardtop is largely glass, and as the sun comes out it darkens automatically — keeping out the heat while maintaining the extraordinary openness that defines this yacht. The retractable sunroof opens to the sky when you want the full Mediterranean experience. Twin 800 HP Volvo engines give Luna a presence on the water that matches her appearance — powerful, smooth, and entirely unhurried about it. Three staterooms below deck mean that Luna is as comfortable at anchor as she is underway. For a group that wants the best — more space, more power, more of everything — this is the boat. Up to 12 guests. A crew of 2. And a yacht that raises the standard of what a day on the Ionian can be.

Tour's Location

Zante Voyage, Agiou Dionisiou, Zakinthos, Greece

Are the destinations fixed?

Yes — this cruise is specifically designed around Marathonisi and the Keri Caves. The order in which they are visited, the time spent at each, and any additional stops nearby are down to your skipper and the conditions on the day.

How many people can join the cruise?

The Luna accommodates up to 12 guests.

Is pick-up from our accommodation included?

Yes. A private transfer will collect you from your hotel, villa or any other accommodation on the island and bring you to the port of Zakynthos. The same transfer takes you home at the end of the day.

What food and drinks are included?

Snacks, fresh fruit, water, wine, beer, coffee and soft drinks are all included and served throughout the cruise. No meals are included on this cruise.

Are there swim stops?

Yes — at the Keri Caves and at any other spot your skipper finds worth stopping at along the way.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety always comes first. If sea conditions are unsuitable, we will reschedule you on the next available date at no extra cost, or offer a full refund if you are unable to join a future cruise.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

No minimum — the boat is yours regardless of how many people are in your group, up to a maximum of 12.

Can children come on board?

Yes, children are welcome on board accompanied by an adult.

What should we bring?

Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a towel. Swimwear of course. A light cover-up for the breeze when the boat is moving. Everything else is taken care of.

Is the price per person or for the whole boat?

The price is for the entire boat — not per person. VAT is included.

Will we definitely see turtles?

Sea turtles are wild animals and sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, the evening is genuinely the best time to visit Marathonisi for turtle watching. As the sun sets, the fading light signals the turtles to come ashore to nest — the population near the shore increases significantly and sightings are at their most likely. Your skipper knows exactly where to position the Luna. Stay quiet, stay still, and wait.

Why is the evening slot special for this cruise?

The southern waters of the National Marine Park take on a different quality in the late afternoon — the light deepens, the heat softens, and the caves glow with a warmth they don't have in the morning. Most importantly, the setting sun draws the loggerhead turtles towards the shore to nest, making the evening the best time of day to see them in the greatest numbers.
