Watch sea turtles in their natural habitat. Swim inside sea caves. See the Zakynthos that stays hidden from the shore.
The southern coastline of Zakynthos tells a different story from the water. Limestone cliffs that look like walls from the beach reveal themselves to be doorways — into caves lit by turquoise light, past rock formations that rise like white towers from the sea, around quiet bays where loggerhead turtles have been returning for thousands of years.
You leave at 9:00 am, before the Ionian heat builds and before the crowds arrive. The sea is at its most still at this hour — calm, clear, and waiting.
Marathonisi — Turtle Island The first stop is the protected bay of Marathonisi, one of the most important loggerhead nesting sites in the entire Mediterranean. Watch the surface of the water. The Caretta caretta turtles come up slowly, unhurried, ancient — completely unbothered by your presence. It’s the kind of wildlife encounter that doesn’t feel like a tourist attraction, because it isn’t one.
Keri Caves The boat follows the coastline to the sea caves at Keri, where the rock opens into dramatic chambers and the water shifts from deep blue to a shade of green you won’t quite believe. You’ll want to be slow here. Take it in.
Mizithres Rocks The final stop is the Mizithres — great white rock formations jutting straight out of the sea, with hidden coves tucked between them that most visitors to Zakynthos will never find.
At two points along the way the boat stops and you swim. No noise, no crowds — just clear water, warm sun, and the cliffs around you.
By noon you’re back at the port, with your transfer waiting to take you home.

Sea turtles are wild animals — they can't be scheduled. The bay of Laganas is one of the most important loggerhead nesting sites in the Mediterranean, and turtles surface regularly to breathe, so sightings are common. Your skipper knows these waters well and will position the boat carefully when turtles are nearby. The one thing that makes the difference is silence — guests who stay quiet and still are almost always rewarded.
Not at all. Swimming is optional but highly recommended — the water at the swim stops is exceptionally clear and calm. If you prefer to stay on board and take in the scenery, that's perfectly fine too.
The boats used for this tour are small and only depart when sea conditions are calm, so the ride is generally smooth. If you are prone to seasickness, it's worth taking precautions before departure. Let the captain know when you board — he can seat you in the most stable spot on the boat.
Yes, children are welcome on board.
Water is essential — bring more than you think you'll need. Sun protection is a must: sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Wear your swimwear under light clothing such as shorts and a t-shirt, and bring a towel. Flip flops or any comfortable footwear suitable for a boat are recommended. If you haven't had time for breakfast, a light snack is a good idea.
No. Since Covid, the sharing of snorkelling equipment has not been permitted. Please bring your own if you'd like to snorkel at the swim stops.
No food or drinks are included. Please bring your own water — staying hydrated in the Ionian sun is important. A light snack is fine if you haven't eaten before departure.
Safety always comes first. If conditions prevent the tour from running, we will reschedule you on the next available departure at no extra cost, or offer a full refund if you are unable to join a future trip.
The tour departs from Agios Sostis port.
Group sizes vary. Depending on bookings, different boats are used to keep the experience comfortable — from smaller groups of around 30 up to larger departures of up to 120 guests.
