The Turtle Experience is a guided kayak tour through one of the most important loggerhead nesting sites in the Mediterranean. You set off from Porto Koukla Beach Hotel and paddle into the protected waters of Laganas Bay — quietly, at your own pace, with a guide who knows exactly where the turtles tend to surface and how to approach them without disturbing them.
The Caretta Caretta loggerhead turtles come up for air regularly in these waters. From the low position of a kayak, with no motor noise to startle them, the encounters feel genuinely close — natural rather than staged. Stay still when the guide signals and watch. It is the kind of moment that stays with you.
The tour also includes snorkelling — a chance to drop below the surface and see the underwater world that the turtles call home. Masks are provided.
Every session is photographed and filmed in HD and 4K. The memories are taken care of.

No experience is required. The transparent kayaks are stable and easy to handle, and your guide will walk you through everything you need to know before you set off.
Sea turtles are wild animals and sightings cannot be guaranteed. However Laganas Bay is one of the most important loggerhead nesting sites in the Mediterranean and turtles surface regularly in these waters. The low, quiet position of a kayak makes encounters more likely than from a boat — and your guide knows exactly where to look.
Yes — snorkelling masks are provided and there is a snorkelling stop during the tour.
Yes, children are welcome. Please contact us in advance if you are bringing young children so we can make the appropriate arrangements.
Swimwear, a towel and sunscreen. Everything else — mask, waterproof bag, waterproof phone case, snack and water — is provided.
The tour departs from Porto Koukla Beach Hotel. Transfers to and from the hotel are not included but can be arranged at an extra cost — please contact us for a quote.
Safety always comes first. If conditions are unsuitable, the tour will be rescheduled or a full refund offered.
