A sea cave named after the god of love. A heart-shaped entrance. And the only way to reach it properly is by paddleboard.
There are places in Zakynthos that most visitors never find. Eros Cave is one of them — a sea cave near Keri, carved into the limestone cliffs of the southern coast, with an entrance shaped like a heart and chambers inside that reward the effort of getting there.
The effort, in this case, is standing on a paddleboard and crossing the water to reach it.
You set off from Porto Koukla Beach Hotel with a guide who knows these waters and knows this cave. The paddle out takes you along a stretch of coastline that is worth taking slowly — the cliffs, the colour of the water, the quiet. When you reach the entrance to Eros Cave, the guide leads you inside. The stalactites overhead, the play of light on the water, the sound of the sea echoing through the chambers — it is a genuinely different kind of place.
After the cave there is snorkelling — time in the water, masks on, looking at what lives beneath the surface along this stretch of coast.
The tour runs in the morning and at noon, and also as a special sunset departure. The sunset version is something worth considering. The light on the southern cliffs at that hour is different from any other time of day — warmer, quieter, and more dramatic. And Eros Cave, lit by the last light of the evening, earns its name.
Every session is photographed and filmed in HD and 4K. The memories are taken care of.
The tour lasts 3 hours. Check-in is at Porto Koukla Beach Hotel.
No experience is required. Your guide will give you a full briefing before departure and the boards are stable and easy to handle. If you can balance, you can paddleboard.
The experience is the same — the same cave, the same route, the same guide. The difference is the light. The sunset departure catches the southern cliffs and the cave entrance in the warmest, most dramatic light of the day. It is worth the extra €10.
