Four hours. One bay. And the moment the turtles come home.

The southern waters of Zakynthos have a rhythm that most visitors never witness. As the sun drops towards the horizon, the Caretta caretta loggerhead turtles respond to the fading light in the way they have for thousands of years — moving towards the shore of Marathonisi to nest. The bay comes alive. And the Luna is there to witness it.

This is a shorter, more focused evening on the water. No caves, no long coastline to cover — just your group, the protected bay, and four hours that belong entirely to you.

Your transfer collects you from your accommodation and brings you to the port of Zakynthos, where the Luna is waiting. By 18:00 you are on the water, heading south as the day begins to turn golden.

At Marathonisi the engine drops to a murmur. The bay is quieter at this hour, the light warmer, and the turtles closer to the surface than at any other time of day. Your skipper knows exactly where to position the Luna. Stay quiet, stay still, and watch. The chances of a sighting at this hour are as good as they get.

There are swim stops along the way — your skipper will find the right spots as the evening unfolds. The water is still warm from the day and the light is extraordinary.

At 22:00 the Luna returns to port. Your transfer takes you home.

M/Y Luna — The Flagship of the Ionian

The Azimut Atlantis 50 is a different proposition entirely. Designed by Carlo Galeazzi, it is a yacht that looks different from the moment you see it — the arrowhead profile, the glass-dominated hardtop, the continuous flow from helm station to swim platform that makes the entire deck feel like one open, connected space. Step aboard and the first thing you notice is the light. The hardtop is largely glass, and as the sun comes out it darkens automatically — keeping out the heat while maintaining the extraordinary openness that defines this yacht. The retractable sunroof opens to the sky when you want the full Mediterranean experience. Twin 800 HP Volvo engines give Luna a presence on the water that matches her appearance — powerful, smooth, and entirely unhurried about it. Three staterooms below deck mean that Luna is as comfortable at anchor as she is underway. For a group that wants the best — more space, more power, more of everything — this is the boat. Up to 12 guests. A crew of 2. And a yacht that raises the standard of what a day on the Ionian can be.

Tour's Location

Zante Voyage, Agiou Dionisiou, Zakinthos, Greece

What is the destination?

This cruise is focused exclusively on Marathonisi — the protected bay in the National Marine Park of Zakynthos where loggerhead sea turtles nest. It is a shorter, more intimate experience designed around the single most compelling reason to be on the southern waters in the evening.

How many people can join the cruise?

The Luna accommodates up to 12 guests.

Is pick-up from our accommodation included?

Yes. A private transfer will collect you from your hotel, villa or any other accommodation on the island and bring you to the port of Zakynthos. The same transfer takes you home at the end of the day.

What food and drinks are included?

Snacks, fresh fruit, water, wine, beer, coffee and soft drinks are all included and served throughout the cruise. No meals are included on this cruise.

Are there swim stops?

Yes — your skipper will find the best spots as the evening unfolds.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety always comes first. If sea conditions are unsuitable, we will reschedule you on the next available date at no extra cost, or offer a full refund if you are unable to join a future cruise.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

No minimum — the boat is yours regardless of how many people are in your group, up to a maximum of 12.

Can children come on board?

Yes, children are welcome on board accompanied by an adult.

What should we bring?

Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a towel. Swimwear of course. A light cover-up for the breeze when the boat is moving. Everything else is taken care of.

Is the price per person or for the whole boat?

The price is for the entire boat — not per person. VAT is included.

Will we definitely see turtles?

Sea turtles are wild animals and sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, the evening is genuinely the best time to visit Marathonisi for turtle watching. As the sun sets, the fading light signals the turtles to come ashore to nest — the population near the shore increases significantly and sightings are at their most likely. Your skipper knows exactly where to position the Luna. Stay quiet, stay still, and wait.

Why is the evening slot special for this cruise?

The southern waters of the National Marine Park take on a different quality in the late afternoon — the light deepens, the heat softens, and the caves glow with a warmth they don't have in the morning. Most importantly, the setting sun draws the loggerhead turtles towards the shore to nest, making the evening the best time of day to see them in the greatest numbers.
