Here is the full revised description and FAQ:
If you do one thing in Zakynthos, make it this. And do it with nobody else around.
There are two ways to experience Navagio. Most people only get one. This excursion gives you both — and it does so entirely on your own terms, with your own group, your own boat, and nobody else sharing the moment.
Your private minivan picks you up directly from your accommodation — whether that is a hotel, villa, Airbnb or country house anywhere in Zakynthos. Pick-up time is arranged directly with our agency. Choose your slot carefully — each time of day offers something different, and one of them is truly unforgettable.
Navagio — The Shipwreck Beach The first encounter is from the water. The boat comes to within twenty metres of the shore and there it is — the rusting hull of the MV Panagiotis, half-buried in white sand, surrounded by cliffs so tall and white they seem to belong to another world. You cannot land. The beach is protected and the distance is kept. But standing on deck with your group, looking in, you won’t miss it. Some places are best admired from just far enough away.
First Swim Stop Just beyond the Shipwreck, the boat pulls into a quiet cove on the way to the caves. The water here is clear and calm — a chance to cool down, float, and let things settle before the next spectacle arrives.
Blue Caves The boat moves on to the Blue Caves — carved into the white limestone cliffs of the northern coast, open to the sea. You drift inside some of them by boat, the light filtering through the water and turning everything an impossible shade of blue. Then the boat stops and you swim — inside the caves themselves, the rock arching overhead, the silence broken only by the water around you. It is one of those experiences that is genuinely difficult to describe afterwards.
Final Swim Stop Before heading back, one last stop just outside the caves — the cliffs and cave openings rising behind you, the sea at its clearest and most still. Take your time here. There is no one waiting.
The boat returns to the northern port after approximately two and a half hours on the water.
Shipwreck Viewpoint Then comes the second encounter with Navagio — this time from above. The clifftop viewpoint looks straight down into the cove — the same white sand, the same rusting ship, the same extraordinary blue, but now hundreds of metres below you and framed by sheer rock on every side. It is the most photographed view in Zakynthos, and standing at the edge with your group you will immediately understand why. Spend forty-five minutes to an hour here. You will not want to leave sooner.
After the viewpoint, your private minivan takes you home.
🌅 A word about timing
Navagio faces west. In the morning the cove is cool and the sea at its calmest — ideal conditions for the boat trip and the swim stops. By midday the colours are at their most vivid, the blue of the water almost electric against the white cliffs. But in the late afternoon, as the sun begins to drop towards the horizon, the light pours directly into the cove and the shipwreck turns gold. It is a different place entirely. If your schedule allows, the late afternoon slot is one of those experiences that is very hard to forget.
Talk to our agency and we will help you choose the slot that suits your group best.
The excursion includes everything you need for the day — your escort, accommodation pick-up and drop-off, the boat trip, all swim stops, and the Navagio clifftop viewpoint. There are no hidden extras.
Food and drinks other than water are not included. As a general rule, anything not explicitly described in the itinerary as included is not part of the price. Personal expenses such as souvenirs and any purchases made along the way are also at your own cost.
Yes, children are welcome on board and at the viewpoint.
Unfortunately this excursion is not suitable for guests with mobility issues. The boat involves stepping on and off at the port, the swim stops require entering and exiting the water, and the Navagio clifftop viewpoint involves walking across uneven terrain. If you are unsure whether the excursion is right for you, please contact us before booking.
Wear your swimwear under light clothing such as shorts and a t-shirt, and bring a towel. Flip flops or comfortable footwear suitable for a boat and water are recommended. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. If you haven't eaten before departure, a light snack is a good idea.
No. Since Covid, the sharing of snorkelling equipment has not been permitted. Please bring your own if you'd like to snorkel at the swim stops.
No food or drinks are included. We do provide cold water to guests during this tour, however. A light snack is fine to bring with you if you haven't eaten before departure.
The boat trip itself lasts approximately two and a half hours, followed by the Navagio clifftop viewpoint stop of forty-five minutes to one hour. Return times may vary slightly depending on the day. This tour will not be longer than 6 hours.
This is a private tour, so only your group will be on the boat.
Yes, transfers are included from your accommodation and back to it at the end of the tour.
We ask for your pick-up details at least 48 hours before the excursion. For last-minute bookings, your accommodation must be provided at the time of booking.
Safety always comes first. The boats only depart when sea conditions are calm and safe. If conditions prevent the excursion from running, we will reschedule you on the next available departure at no extra cost, or offer a full refund if you are unable to join a future trip.
